“Asia is the most unreached
region in the world.”

We Share the Experience

Our Christian documentary films have spread around the world and provided us with valuable practical experience in Christian media work.

Asia is the most unreached region in the world in terms of missionary work. Now God has led us there to equip Christian youth as media creators to reach their own peoples.

In collaboration with partners, the first media center in Thailand has been established as the network’s initial base of support over the past three years.

Versatile Media Center

In addition to content produced by the younger generation in Thai, the media center has also created content in Burmese, Lao, and Karen languages. Interestingly, the media center’s work is funded locally through commercial activities.

The Media Centre produces a wide range of Christian content independently and in cooperation with various partners, provides media training for churches and offers media production services to Christian missionary organisations and commercial entities.

New Disciples

We want to see more and more young people find Jesus and grow into disciples who reach others through the media. That’s why we are planning to establish a second media center on a university campus, where over 25,000 lower-middle-class young people are studying.

The new centre will offer young people the opportunity to develop their media skills. It will also be accompanied by a church, led by local Christians and missionaries, where young people who come to faith will be directed for spiritual growth.

Our Story

In 2013, Finnish Christian couple Mika and Ruut Ahonen set out to produce high-quality Christian documentaries. Their first documentary, Sounds of the Night, was filmed under challenging conditions in Brooklyn, New York.

The documentary was offered to GOD TV, one of the world’s largest Christian television networks, which wanted to broadcast it. Distribution agreements were also made with the UK, Norway, and Finland. Thus, the story of Hurttimurtti began.

In 2015, Hurttimurtti’s second documentary was completed, focusing on human value within the context of sex trafficking. This documentary was aired by TBN’s UK division, one of the world’s largest Christian distribution networks.

In 2016 and 2017, the Hurttimurtti team produced two documentaries about Israel, which opened doors to new TV channels in Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden.

In 2018, the team created a Finnish documentary about the asylum situation in Europe. The next international documentary, One Ruler – The Power of the Persecuted Church, achieved success at international Christian film festivals in the United States and Canada in 2020.

Hurttimurtti’s seventh documentary, My Nazi Family (2022), explores the impact of intergenerational war trauma and the process of overcoming it. It has also been shown in crisis areas around the world and has garnered over 470,000 views on YouTube.

In 2023, the production team released a documentary film shot in Germany called Not Yet Here. Hurttimurtti’s documentaries have now been broadcasted on 21 channels around the world. All documentaries are produced with the help of volunteers and donations.

The Ahonen´s, who lead the team, have been working in Christian media for almost 20 years. After about ten years with Hurttimurtti, the couple felt a calling to multiply their knowledge as media mentors for the younger generation. In 2024, God sent them to Asia to put this into practice.

The Asia Media Project is a partnership with various organisations such as Fida, Key Media and several churches. Hurttimurtti is the main channel for fundraising for the project.
